NYC

14個人，一輛ford van，11個小時，顛顛簸簸到了紐約。

這次NYC小隊中，只有我一個中國人，其它大部分都來自NC的各個學校：UNC、Duke、NCSU,還有Campbell。他們知道我從上海來，就問我，紐約和上海有什么不同的地方。我說，高樓多一點，房子舊一點，其它好像都差不多了。紐約看上去就非常的混亂，各種種族、文化、信息全部交織在一起了。

在老米的眼裏，一般他們選擇住在小鎮或者鄉下，休息天來到城市，算是渡假。而我們卻正好相反，住在城市，卻嚮往鄉下。晚上在百老會大街上的Artie's Deli吃了一大盆叫做Pastrami Reuben的猶太食物，撐死到現在。

紐約很小，一眼就望到頭了。我和他們說，還是很懷唸上海啊。

Kure Beach

Soon after finished a beautiful buffet, we drove south from Wilmington to the Kure Beach. The beach, so-called "a true getaway destination" for tourists, was uncrowded during off-season.



It was quite cool at the beachside in early March, maybe there'd be another chance to have sun bath here.



Doest the sunrise on the Atlantic ocean look different from it on the Pacific ocean?

Wilmington

Finally we were able to travel out of town--with a rent car and in one and a half days.



The first stop was Wilmington, a charming port city located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina. Wilmington is a popular destination for both tourists and non-tourists because of its moderate, four-season climate, historic preservation district and typical southern-America life style.



Wilmington is the hometown of Michael Jordan and a well-known journalist David Brinkley, though I failed to find both home.And it was also a major base of Confederate blockade runners during the Civil War.



Museums were closed to public on Sundays, so we were just lucky enough to bump into a backyard-garden of one historic site. The Burgwin-Wright House, said to be "The most considerable house in town", was also famous for its garden.



There were more churches and temples than restaurants in this little place, quite impressive to me.

Surprise

趙凱院長和俞振偉院長今天來UNC看我們了。雖然說是領導，但見到自己的老師感覺果然不一樣。

他們來美國好幾天了，之前去了哈福耶魯之類的大學，今早一路趕來Chapel Hill這個小破地方。下午先和Prof. Rich Beckman開了一個會，商討一下特奧會網站的事情。晚上去了Prof. Zhao Xinshu的家裏吃晚飯。UNC新聞學院現任的院長Jean Folkerts和前院長Richard Cole也來了。真是一個不大不小的宴會。

之後老俞院長提出帶我們去夜店玩玩。這也是我們來米國以來第一次去學校附近的夜店吧，之前因爲沒有車所以也不敢在半夜出來玩，因爲根本不知道如何回去。

Anyway, this is an awesome evening full of surprises.


不過有件事情不得不提。今天吃自助的時候，某位姓邰的同學用自己的筷子直接從大盤子裏面夾東西出來吃，真是一點傢教都沒有。你可以不顧自己狼吞虎咽的樣子，但請你顧全一下作爲中國人的形象好麽？在此點名批評一下！各位讀者也請引以爲戒。
